Brief History

History of the School

1939     Taipei KAWAAI Elementary School was established. AKYUNE MASA YOSI was the first principal. 

1939     Enrollment of students started.

1941     Renamed as KAWAAI Elementary School.

1945     Wu Chang-Yuan, the first R.O.C. principal, was appointed.

1947     Renamed as Taipei Municipal Datong District Yanping Elementary School.

1968     Renamed as Taipei Municipal Yanping Elementary School.

1969     Volleyball Team was awarded for Champion for the R.O.C. Volleyball Elementary School Tournament.

1971     Auditorium was completed.

1971     Fork Dance Team was awarded for Champion for the Taipei Fork Dance Competition.

1987     Kindergarten was founded.

1988     Teacher Activity Center was completed.

1988     Special Education Class was founded.

1989     50th Anniversary, a large festival was held.

1992     Elected as the Top 10 most friendly-environmental Elementary School.

1994     Visual-Audio Center was completed.

1995     Parents & Teachers Editorial was first released.

1996     Teachers Association was founded.

1996     British broadcasting Corporation came to Yan-Ping to shoot documentary film.

1996     First computer classroom was established ( including 30 computers)

1997     Teachers Recruitment & Assessment Association was founded.
1998     Implementing English Teaching for the third grade students.

1998     School administration Internet was constructed.

1999     60th Anniversary, a large festival was held. Taipei Mayor Ma ine- Juo and numerous alumni were present.

2000     Fork Competition was awarded for the Most Distinguished Performance

2000     Dodgeball Team was awarded Championship and Silver Medal for 2 consecutive years

2000     School Histroy Room was established.

2001     With the purpose to launch a new academic structure for change, Committee of School Curriculum development was launched.

2001     Intranet and Internet were constructed

2002     Implementation of English Teaching for the First Grade students

2002     Construction of Meal Preparation Room, providing lunch for students

2003     Chorus Team received Silver Medal for the Taipei Chorus Competition.

2004     English Team was awarded Second and Third Prize for “ Taipei English Kids” for 2 consecutive years.

2004     Yan-ping was awarded for Second Prize for Taipei Taiwanese Drama Competition

2004     Yan-Ping Kindergarden was awarded “Healthy Campus” for 2 consecutive years

2005     Indoor Thermal Swimming Pool was accomplished, officially  opened in January.

2005 Awarded "Super Performance Prize" for promoting Kid Story Literacy Reading.

2005 Awarded "Championship" in the competition of Hakka Language Parma Contest.

2006 Awarded "Excellent Performance" in the project of Environmental Protection & Promotion.

2006 The story telling and performing volunteers in YangPing was rewarded as "Excellent  Performance" by Department of education ,Taipei City Government.

2006.Awarded "Second Prize" of Chinese body coordination,” Excellent Performance" for rope skipping and shuttlecock kicking in the competition of Taipei Folk Sports Tournament.

2006 In participation of "Taipei Sports Tournament for Elementary School",YangPing was rewarded "Excellent Performance". Girls was ranked the fifth for Track & Field. Boys was ranked the sixth for swimming.

2007.From2003-2007,Yangping has been renowned for it's Annual Curriculum Planning, which is highly recommended by Department of Education,Taipei City Government.
